| Greece | 8.12.2023 | The Model Vocational High School of Epanomi visited the Hydroelectric Plant in Sfikia on December 8, 2023, in the city of Veria within the framework of the 2023-1-PL01—KA210-VET-000152562 program entitled "Our Future is Up to Us". Students and teachers were guided by the responsible engineer of the factory and understood its general operation. Hydroelectric Stations as Multipurpose Facilities play a very serious role in the National Economy and contribute the most to the social life of the areas where they are located and operate.Hydroelectric Stations contribute more than 9% to the total production of DEI (Public Power Corporation in Greece). The energy produced is "green - clean", i.e. it does not burden the atmosphere with gas emissions. In general, hydroelectric plants upgrade their environment, by creating ecosystems in the area of lakes and by maintaining ecological data in riverbeds for the preservation of fish fauna. They also contribute to flood protection, irrigation, water supply. Many areas of the lakes of the Hydroelectric Stations are used for aquatic activities such as water skiing, rowing, kayaking, etc. Fishing, both professional and amateur, is one of the many freshwater activities which DEI enriches with fish spawn. The shores of the lakes are ideal places for creating recreation and tourism poles. | Photos from the visit |

On 11th December we had a seminar about the use of renewable energy sources. The students from class 11K made presentations about the use and importance of renewable energy sources (geothermal energy, solar energy, wind energy, hydrothermal energy and nuclear power). Some students made PowerPoint Presentations, others created videos using their IT knowledge. | Photos from the seminar |
| Poland | 14.12.2023 | On 14 December, project participants went to the ArcelorMitall Poland plant - the largest and most modern steel producer in Poland. The project participants and other students from our school listened to a professionally prepared presentation about the plant's pro-environmental activities and then went on a specially organised tour of the entire plant for our group. | Greece | 20.12.2023 | At the non-profit company "Kyklos" we were informed about the way the company is financed, about its actions and events organized in order to raise awareness to the public. They also described the concept of Circular Economy, the 10 Rs of Circularity, the right way to recycle and how to minimize litter. First, we got into a circle to share information about ourselves. They asked us various questions, such as if there is a compost bin in our school and if we know anything about the circular economy model. We were shown various videos related to circularity. Then, we discussed the Circular Flow Model. They showed us the Pyramid of Circular Economy and analyzed it, helping us to understand the notion of a “cautious consumer”. We were given the opportunity to feel recycled paper and handmade notebooks, plates, jewelry, decorations and even bags made of bike inner tubes. We visited e-shops that sell items made of recycled materials at affordable prices. We were recommended the website www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org, where there is plenty of material related to circular economy. We also analyzed the process and techniques of composting. We then went outside to see the compost bin, which is used by the entire neighborhood. Finally, they invited us to design our dream town in terms of energy, waste management, means of transport, sustainable water management and green spaces. Finally, each group presented its proposal to the plenary. |
